This Coffee Has been to Space…

Would you pay $50 for one cup of coffee? Well, if you heard this coffee has been to space and back, you might consider it a bargain price.

In New York, a new type of coffee called ‘Astronaut’ is brewed at the Round K café. The Café’s owner, Ockhyeon Byeon, sends the coffee beans into space, using a weather balloon. The atmospheric pressure results in slightly frozen, water coated coffee beans, which are used to make coffee with a distinct taste.

Is it worth $50 per cup? It depends on whom you’ll ask, but it’s certainly unique.

Needless to say, this is not the first expensive coffee the world has seen. The famous Eleven Madison Park restaurant offers a $24 cup of coffee service, brewed by your table from premium Colombian beans. There are plenty of other examples for coffee fans who want to upgrade their coffee experience.

While there is certainly plenty of expensive coffee out there, coffee price has actually decreased by over 19% since January 2017.
