Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos is now the richest man in the world. But will Black Friday and Cyber Monday make him even richer?
Black Friday certainly did. According to Tech Crunch, Black Friday sales on Amazon’s site sent Mr. Bezos’ net worth to $100 Billion (that’s billion with a ‘B’). This new hard-earned title left Hedge Fund titan Warren Buffett and former Microsoft CEO Bill Gates in his very expensive dust. However, unlike Microsoft founder Bill Gates, Bezos hasn’t allocated much of his capital to charity. But that’s about to change.
So what does a man do with $100 B in his piggy bank? Let’s just say he has no idea…Seriously, he literally has no idea what to do with his money. We know this because Bezos took to Twitter during the summer to ask his followers what he should do with his endless supply of money! Bezos claimed he would like his “philanthropic activity to be helping people in the here and now- short term- at the intersection of urgent need and lasting impact.”
Whichever way the New Mexico born billionaire decides to spend his cash, there’s a good chance he’ll have more of it tomorrow. That’s because today (November 27, 2017), is Cyber Monday. According to USA Today, Cyber Monday sales are forecasted to reach $6.6 million. And although big box retailers like Walmart, Best Buy, Macy’s, Nordstrom and Target will experience heavy traffic on their sites today, Amazon is expected to dominate the year’s biggest online shopping spree.
That’s because Amazon is extending Cyber Monday to the entire week (‘Cyber Week’). During that time, online consumers can expect ‘Lightning Deals’ on items like clothing, electronics, housewares, toys, tabletop games, movies, and more. Many share traders will be looking to be a part of Amazon’s potential success.
